The green lipped mussel (Perna canaliculus) is endemic to New Zealand. It is used for both human and veterinary medicine applications. It is proven to be beneficial for a wide variety of complaints, e.g. for arthrosis, arthritis, hip dysolasia and osteoporosis.
In the veterinary field, it is mostly used for prophylactic (preventive) measures. In dogs, for example, it supports the development of joint cartilage, optimal skeletal development and the stability of the connective tissue (ligaments and tendons).
Used as a holistic treatment, it leads to a general increase in vitality, serves to relieve stress and contributes to metabolism activation. Other areas of application include indigestion and skin diseases as well as allergies.
During treatments for painful diseases of the musculoskeletal system it shows anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving effects, without the side effects of conventional medication.
